Hill family papers, 1850-1938.

Collection consists of 2,112 letters. The collection reflects the settlement and growth of a pioneer family, their personal lives, social contacts, business affairs, and educational and cultural experiences. The major files concern: Henry Hill, Nelly May Hill, Verd Hill, Henry Denlinger, Wendell Denlinger, and Clyde Hill. Among the Nelly Hill letters are five from Herbert C. Hoover, written when he was a student at Stanford. The letters were published in University of Oregon Library Call number, volume 27, number 2 (Spring 1966), with an introduction and notes by Earl Pomeroy.
